They found a woman who was giving away a built-in on Craigslist for free, bought new handles on eBay for about $35, and bought drywall, drywall tape, drywall nails, and other various materials for the project for about $75.
Aren't built-ins such a hit or miss feature in a home? I've lived in some rentals with hideous built-ins and they quickly became the bain of my existence. When done well, though, they can add the perfect amount of character and functionality to a space.
P.S. I'm a little confused about the rainbows and disco ball... Please try to appreciate the built-in despite the poor surrounding design choices.
P.P.S. Remember Simone's built-ins in her breakfast nook? Another built-in I would love to recreate.
