I'll update you about the food we ate first (keep in mind this was over a span of two days and we walked quite a bit). We had a Valentine's Day celebration at Cascabel Taqueria, had a few red velvet cupcakes from Two Little Red Hens, ate at Ess-a-Bagel twice, chowed down on some amazing and super filling ramen at Rai Rai Ken, found what I now believe to be the best pizza in NYC at Lombardi's, had a s'mores crepe at Creperie NYC, and gorged ourselves on some hearty food and drinks at St. Dymphna's. You can see a tiny bit of the deliciousness below.
On Wednesday, we did a little shopping at Anthropologie for this dress (I swear it was for a clothing emergency and I have a discount card) and Evolution, a store in Soho specializing in human and animal skeletons. It's a little spooky in there, but for some reason Julia and I were in the mood to see some artifacts this week.
We also got a chance to go to the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Bodies Exhibit.
Highlight of the trip: We somehow got into PDT (Please Don't Tell), a speakeasy in the East Village for drinks, even though we had a large group and no reservations. You walk into an inconspicious hot dog store, walk into a phone booth, dial a number, and wait for a host to slide the door open and let you in. The drinks were all pretty darn tasty (as they should be at 15 bucks a pop), and even though the bar is not as secretive as it once was, it was still a fun alternative to any old bar.
Come back Jules! We miss you already!
